Jared Gardner is a professor of American literature, film and popular culture in the English Department and the Film Studies program, as well as director of the Popular Culture Studies program. He regularly teaches the Introduction to Popular Culture course (English 264) as well as courses in the history of comics, comics and film, the graphic novel, and Hollywood film. His most recent books are Projections: Comics and the History of 21st-Century Storytelling (Stanford University Press, 2011) and The Rise and Fall of Early American Magazine Culture (University of Illinois Press, 2012). He is currently working on The Cambridge Introduction to Popular Culture Studies and a study of the relationship between radio and the postwar American novel.
